I was preparing myself to face whatever the result be when I saw that paper. There were 2 scary numbers that I am never thought before. My writing and speaking
are 5. I could’t hide what I felt. it shock me badly. Are these numbers illustrating my English language skill ?? Soon I called my husband and apologized to him. I am wasting his hope. But I believe I will prepare myself more and face the test with better mind, ideas, and confidence. I can presume my mistakes in the speaking test are speak not to the point/ lost direction, less idea, too much thinking about the next questions (which may be I can tell more). About writing test, I found some of my husband writing exercise when he took TOEFL preparation class. Wish me luck guys
The Result
July 7, 2007 by hari2ku16 June My IELTS test
June 29, 2007 by hari2kuToday I was absent from my office. Great day (Thanks to ALLAH).
I was confident enough and arrived at IALF earlier (6 a.m.). Many people took this test today. There was 5 member of Prep21 : Carol, Sofie, Jo, Rizki, and myself. Classroom 7 and 717 are numbers of this historical day. Paul started to keep the test at 9.10 and finished at 11.45. I was going down to mushola as soon as i finished the test and done the zuhur prayer. My speaking test was begun at 1 p.m. The examiner was Mr. humm I am forgot, he is rather bold, older than 30, kind enough. I thought it wa too fast for me to finished the test (no longer than 8 minutes i think). Kind scary
Twenty Fifth Day
June 29, 2007 by hari2kuMy last day, thank you so much Douglas for your responsibility, kindness and patience in teaching us with heart. Douglas gave us great comment in our certificate. He is so care to us. I saw my certificate and may be my heart’s tears fell down seeing my ‘instructor’s comments’ :
Aminah worked very diligently during the course. She was very cooperative and seemed very interested in improving her preparedness for the IELTS. Her scores on the listening and reading practice tests were consistently good, illustrating that she knows what is required on these sections, so she should do the actual IELTS test in the same manner. Aminah showed good use of English vocabulary and English grammar in the written section. She needs to remember to use a variety of sentence types, but she must save enough time to proofread every word she has written in order to correct errors and make sure the essays can be easily followed by the examiner. And above all, she should remember to form a good plan and argument for task two prior to starting to write. Hopefully she will use her spoken English abilities more frequently in the future both in order to see more improvement and also because she showed that she can speak English very well. Hopefully she will sit for the actual test having the confidence that she prepared herself well, and hopefully she will do as well on the actual test as she did on our practice tests so that she is well satisfied with her results.
Twenty Fourth Day
June 29, 2007 by hari2kuWe’ve taken another listening and reading test. I made a slight improvement with the scores. 31 for the listening and 30 for the reading (I think I am ready and confident enough). I hope the real test in 16 June wouldn’t be difficult. Wendy have got 6 for his real speaking and writing test although his English is fluently enough in our IALF preparation class.
Twenty Third Day
June 29, 2007 by hari2kuWe made another writing. It’s about illegal copying in the internet. We also have a speaking task with partners from another class. My partner’s name is Fera, she has come from Sulawesi. She likes Kuch Kuch Hota Hai too and choose it as an answer for her favorite movie. She was having plenty ideas of answers.
Twenty Two Day
June 29, 2007 by hari2ku
We got a listening test from 6 p.m to 6:30 p.m. I am so sad, I’ve just got 25 correct from 40 questions.
Twenty One Day
June 29, 2007 by hari2kuI can’t imagine how I can get 6 for this listening especially for the last ten questions. It’s really horrible. The reading too. I spent all the time to to that. There is one section about cigarette marketing. I didn’t know what the reason is, it should be easy because it’s a familiar topic. But may be because a lot of sentence, which too general, make me difficult
To find the answer.
Twentieth Day
June 29, 2007 by hari2kuToday we was reviewed the reading homework, listening and did the full writing test. The first section is about two charts describing number of Japanese tourists who traveling abroad and the Australia market share as one of their destination.
Nineteenth Day
June 29, 2007 by hari2kuHaving a great vacation makes me lazy enough to do my homework (I was having great time in Anyer beach with my work friends). Humm, I should do the reading test to see my score. And Douglas have given us writing test which I am not finished yet. We spent the day by reviewing the test, did some reading and listening about Real Estate agent. I have got new vocabulary ‘terraced house’ which means houses that look alike in the neighborhood. It can be called ‘row house’ too. And the last thing we practicing was speaking with pair. I have Reza as my pair. Mrs. Melly got Douglas and he had given her some good advice, like :
-Don’t say ‘I very like’…. But you should say “I like it very”
-‘Don’t say ‘err…ehmmm… and some thing like that’
Eighteenth Day
June 29, 2007 by hari2kuThe Third test. Me and Wv got late about 45 minutes. When we arrived we found no teacher in the classroom. So we was waiting for ‘Paul’, the teacher who replaced Douglas while he spent his vacation in Bali. After waiting for 15 minutes, Paul came and gave us a couple minutes to do the writing task. I was done for 18 questions. Long weekend here I come
